Crawford Long Middle School

MAE Center graduate students at Georgia Institute of Technology, Leonardo Duenas Osorio and Bryant Nielson, presented an earthquake preparedness and safety program at Crawford Long Middle School, Atlanta, GA, January 13, 2004. This presentation was a part of the Student Leadership Council Classroom Visitation program.  8th grade earth science students viewed slides that introduced plate techtonics, recent earthquakes, and damage.  A video was presented on earthquake preparedness and students participated in a hands-on activity assembling earthquake resistant models that were tested on the shake table.  The 8th grade teacher, Ms. Fayson, stated that “Everything was great.  My student’s really enjoyed the presentation.”
