Illinois Science Teachers Association Annual Convention

The annual conference of the Illinois Science Teachers Association was held in Peoria, IL October 11-13, 2001 with Exploring the Environment Through Science as the theme. The mission of the ISTA is to provide proactive leadership that will improve science education by promoting effective classroom practices, supporting sustained professional development opportunities, facilitating communication, collaboration and networking opportunities, and advocating for the needs of science teachers. The MAE Center participated at the convention with demonstrations, exhibits, and resource handouts. The convention routinely draws over 1,500 elementary and secondary teachers, administrators, science supervisors, state leaders, and others who make decisions about science instruction in IL.
